CONCH Cape Cod Social and Activity Club

The CONCH BAND

Join the CONCH BAND
We are looking for anyone who enjoys music, or likes to do funky and unusual things, or who loves or collects sea shells. No previous musical skill is required. CONCHies with previous or current brass instrument experience are welcomed with bonuses! Contact Paul Adams or Regina McDowell to join or for more information.

Take a look at some of the information on the web about Conch Horns, watch some videos about how to create your own conch horn, find places to purchase conch horns, follow the history of conch horns, and checkout a website of the Jacksonville Beach, Florida Conch Band that marches each year in a parade to open up the beaches in their town.

The first CONCH Band meeting was held on May 27 at the Chatham Community Center and the second on August 24 at 10 a.m. The goal is to form a band of members that includes people playing Conch shells and kazoos, with a small corps of percussionists, and friends to march in the 2012 Chatham 300 Anniversary Parade. If you are interested in purchasing a lexan (plastic) mouthpiece for your conch, they are available for around $20 at Kelly Mouthpieces online.

We plan to have additional meetings, recuit some new members to our current 30-member group, schedule practice and sharing sessions to learn to play these crazy shells, and do some socializing because this is a CONCH activity!
