Minutes of the CONCH General Meeting

SEPTEMBER 2011

Kay Sacramone opened the meeting by thanking Bill Jordan for his work over the past two years as vice president and president of Conch and presented him with a gift. Kay announced the minutes from the previous meeting were on the web site for all to read. She then asked that Sue Granai be named as recording secretary for the next year. A motion was made and seconded and a vote taken. Sue is now the recording secretary.

Jeff Hahner-membership chair-
Jeff announced 308 members paid early. We currently have 359 paid members, A membership file will be sent to each member as a PDF file, we no longer use snail mail. Jeff had two envelopes with twenty five dollars in each as rewards for early payment. Two names were drawn as winners, Eileen McEachern and Jean Banks. New members were introduced.

Jeff gave an overview of programs for his wife Betty Hahner-programs. In November Mark McGrath will speak of adventures on Cape Cod. In January Barry Burbank weatherman for channel four will speak of weather on Cape Cod. In March Ben Martins of the Hook fishermen association will speak and in May C. L. Fornari, master gardener will speak.

Rich Stenberg-Treasurer-
Rich announced that a retired CPA had reviewed the books and found them fine. He also said $400 had been given to each of the food pantries in Harwich and Chatham.

Harry Cutts-Vice President-Harry announced the following events, October 12 welcome new members' cocktail party and December 12, Christmas party at Eastward-Ho. He still needs a chair person for the May dinner dance, In February there will be a theater party chaired by Irene Mitchell and Louise Archambault. Pops night in December is sold out.

Morag Geraci-Activities chair-
Morag encouraged people to sign up for activities and introduced some of the new ones. Paul Adams told us about the band for the Chatham Fourth of July parade in 2012. He is also taking orders for shirts and hats, shirts are $12.00 and hats are $10.00. Singles group needs a coordinator. Women's gourmet with Anne Stawiarski and Sandy Sarver as chair people will hold their first event, a tea on October 21 at Brooks library.

Travel-Anne Marie Adams-
Anne Marie announced that Cape Cod Adventures, a company we have worked closely with over the years is dissolving as of December 31, 2011. All trips scheduled before that are still a go. As a result of this company closing down Anne-Marie will be stepping down from her position. The board is looking for a volunteer to collet travel information and make it available on the web site. We will no longer schedule trips.

Sunshine -Dolores Allen-
Jan Concannon's husband, Jack Concannon died this summer. Jim Rappolt 's sister died and Ron Nahass' sister died. Fred Iararbino was welcomed back to the Cape. Kay reminded us to call Dolores if we know of anyone who needs a card.

Kay gave a special thanks to Anne Stawiarski, Sandi and Len Sarver and Joan and Leo Dunphy for stepping in to help with refreshments. Kay reminded us all that we will be using email as much as possible. Be sure you have conchcapecod@gmail.com in your address book.
